How to launch in Human Missile
The hold is the whole takeoff. Taps are just shrugs.
Every Human Missile complaint that starts with ‘the controls are broken’ is usually a tap. The official page is not subtle. Hold the mouse button on PC, hold the boost control on mobile, hold the right trigger on console. This guide is only about that hold: how long, how clean, and what to do when the pad refuses to let you go.
Steering comes after you are airborne. Read how to steer next. Scoring comes after you hit. Read how to score after you can leave the ground on purpose. The controls tool is the one-screen version of this page.
What the hold is doing
Think of the hold as a charge, even if the HUD never draws a pretty meter. A short press wastes the joke. A committed hold gives the body time to become a projectile. Release is not a separate ‘fire’ action in the official text; release is what happens when you already committed and the missile is away.
If you mash, you teach the client you are indecisive. If you hold through the takeoff, you teach yourself the timing of this beta. Maddorith can retune the feel in a publish. The instruction will still be a hold.
PC launch
Click into the Roblox window. Hold the primary mouse button. Keep the cursor away from UI chrome so a menu does not eat the press. If you use a laptop trackpad, a physical mouse is kinder; trackpads drop holds when your thumb twitches.
Do not combine the hold with a jump key you brought from another game. Human Missile is not an obby. Extra keys during takeoff are how people spin out before the camera even frames a house.
Mobile launch
Find the boost control and keep a thumb on it. Landscape mode gives that thumb a lane that does not collide with camera drag. If your device shows a huge chat bar, collapse it. A single accidental tap on chat cancels more launches than bad physics.
If the boost control is a virtual trigger, press the center, not the rim. Rim presses drop when the view shifts. After takeoff, that same thumb can stay parked while the other hand steers the camera.
Console launch
Hold the right trigger. If your controller treats RT as a clicky button, commit past the click and keep pressure. A half-press that bounces off the detent feels like a tap to the game. Disable extra paddles that also send RT, or you will double-fire the hold.
Failed launches, diagnosed
Nothing happens. You are not focused on the client, or the hold never started. A tiny hop. You released early. A launch into the floor. You held while the camera was already buried. Frame the sky or the target before the hold, then commit. A launch that dies immediately. You clipped a teammate or a piece of pad geometry. Wait a beat, then hold again.
Other players will launch beside you. That is the eight-person server. Do not wait for a private instance; VIP servers are not enabled. Share the pad, then pick a different house if someone else claimed yours. The targets list exists for that fork.
After you are up
The hold’s job is over. Now the camera does the work. If you keep holding out of panic, you may waste a boost you wanted for a correction—follow the steer guide instead of squeezing harder. When you land, reset your hands. A good launch ritual is the same every flight: frame, hold, commit, release only when the body is gone.
Practice ten launches at the same pad heading before you care about points. Then take that boring, reliable takeoff into getting started and spend the first upgrade like an adult. A pretty shop cannot save a missile that never left the ground.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common Human Missile questions.
How do I launch in Human Missile?
Hold the mouse button on PC, the boost control on mobile, or the right trigger on console until you leave the pad. Do not tap.
Why do I only hop a few studs?
The hold ended too soon. Keep pressure through takeoff, then read How to Steer once you are actually flying.
Can I launch on a phone?
Yes. Use landscape, park a thumb on boost, and keep chat collapsed so the hold does not cancel.
